Telecom Operators in India like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea to Launch Affordable Unlimited Calling Plans by the orders of TRAI
What TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) Ruled?
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently issued a directive to telecom operators in India, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, to introduce separate plans for voice calls and SMS. This move aims to provide consumers with more flexibility and better value for money as right now the there are no separate plans for calling and data or sms.
Immediate Implementation Order by TRAI
Starting from early next year, telecom operators will offer affordable unlimited calling plans. These plans are expected to benefit millions of users, especially those in rural areas and senior citizens who primarily use their phones for voice calls and SMS.
The new regulations mandate that telecom companies provide at least one Special Tariff Voucher (STV) exclusively for voice and SMS, with a validity period of up to 365 days. This means users will no longer need to purchase bundled data plans if they don’t require internet access. In response to the directive, major telecom operators are gearing up to launch cheap unlimited calling plans.
Expected Plans From Jio, VI and Airtel
Airtel and Vodafone Idea are expected to offer unlimited calling plans starting from as low as ₹2399 for 365 days. Reliance Jio is also likely to introduce competitive pricing for its unlimited calling plans.
Interestingly, there are speculations that these companies might bring plans priced under ₹300 for three months. This would provide even more affordable options for users. It’s a strategic move to dominate the market and attract more customers, especially those looking for budget-friendly options.
Under 300 Calling Plans Likely from Jio, Airtel, VI
This move by TRAI is seen as a significant step towards making mobile services more inclusive and affordable for all segments of society. It will also help users save money by allowing them to pay only for the services they use. With the possibility of even cheaper plans, users are likely to see more value and flexibility in their mobile plans. What do you guys think about this move by TRAI and what plans should these telecom companies come up with? Do give your feedback in the comments.
